Refund Policy
1. Purpose and Scope
This Refund Policy explains how payments made to Medical Center Klinik Istanbul in connection with medical consultations, treatment packages, and related coordination services are handled, and the conditions under which a refund may or may not be issued. It applies to all international patients who make a payment to Medical Center Klinik Istanbul and is drafted in accordance with Turkish Consumer Protection Law No. 6502 and the Regulation on Distance Contracts.
2. Free Initial Consultation
Your initial medical consultation, case review, and treatment quote are provided free of charge and involve no payment. No refund question arises at this stage, as no fee has been collected.
3. Right of Withdrawal — Statutory Exception for Health Services
Under Article 15 of the Turkish Regulation on Distance Contracts, the 14-day right of withdrawal that normally applies to distance contracts does not apply to contracts for services personalised to the consumer's specific requirements, or to health services performed by a healthcare professional. Because every treatment plan is prepared individually for each patient's diagnosis and needs, this statutory exception applies to the medical services offered by Medical Center Klinik Istanbul.
4. Cancellation Before Treatment — Deposit and Prepayment Refunds
If you cancel your treatment before travelling to Istanbul and before any clinical service has been performed, the following schedule applies to any deposit or prepayment made:
- 30 days or more before your scheduled treatment date: full refund of any deposit or prepayment, less any non-recoverable third-party costs already incurred on your behalf (e.g. confirmed hotel or transfer bookings).
- 14–29 days before your scheduled treatment date: 50% refund of any deposit or prepayment.
- Less than 14 days before your scheduled treatment date: deposits and prepayments become non-refundable, as clinical scheduling, specialist time, and facility bookings have already been reserved on your behalf.
- Cancellations must be submitted in writing to info@medicalcenter.clinic. The cancellation date is the date the written request is received.
5. Non-Refundability Once Treatment Has Commenced
Once a clinical procedure has begun, the corresponding treatment fee is considered earned and is non-refundable, consistent with the nature of healthcare services under Turkish law. If a multi-stage treatment plan is interrupted at the patient's own request after part of the plan has been delivered, only the fee for the portion not yet performed may be considered for a partial refund, at the clinic's discretion and subject to the treating specialist's clinical assessment.
6. Travel, Accommodation and Third-Party Services
Flights, hotel accommodation, airport transfers and similar travel arrangements are, where booked through Medical Center Klinik Istanbul as a convenience to the patient, subject to the cancellation policy of the relevant third-party provider (airline, hotel, or transfer company) and not to this Refund Policy. We will assist you in requesting a refund from the relevant provider where applicable, but we do not guarantee that such providers will issue one.
7. Medical Complications and the Revision Process
As stated in our Terms of Service and our KVKK notice, Medical Center Klinik Istanbul does not represent or guarantee any specific medical outcome. A refund is not issued on the basis of a patient's subjective dissatisfaction with an aesthetic or clinical result that has been achieved within recognised medical standards.
Where a recognised medical complication arises that is directly attributable to a treatment performed at our partner facility, our clinical team will assess the case and, where clinically appropriate, offer a revision procedure, extended follow-up care, or other remedy at no additional treatment fee. Any such remedy is determined on a case-by-case basis following clinical review and does not constitute an automatic right to a cash refund.
8. Refund Method and Timeline
Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method used at the time of payment, within 14 business days of the refund being approved in writing. Bank transfer fees, currency conversion differences, and payment processor charges incurred in the original transaction are not refundable and may be deducted from the refunded amount.
9. Dispute Resolution
If you believe a refund has been declined or calculated incorrectly, you may first raise the matter directly with our patient coordination team. Turkish consumers may also apply to the Consumer Arbitration Committee (Tüketici Hakem Heyeti) or the Consumer Court (Tüketici Mahkemesi) of their place of residence, in accordance with the monetary limits set annually by the Ministry of Trade. International patients may pursue any dispute resolution mechanism available to them under applicable law.
10. International Patients and Applicable Law
The majority of our patients travel from outside Turkey. This Refund Policy is governed by the laws of the Republic of Turkey, and Turkish law applies to the contractual relationship between you and Medical Center Klinik Istanbul. This does not remove any mandatory statutory right you may hold under the consumer protection laws of your own country of residence; where any provision of this policy conflicts with a mandatory consumer-protection rule of your home jurisdiction, that mandatory rule continues to apply to the extent required by law. We encourage international patients to also review the medical-tourism and consumer-protection regulations applicable in their own country before travelling.
