What You Need to Know Before You Decide
Every patient who contacts us has done their research. What they are looking for — beyond the clinical facts — is someone they can trust to be honest about what this treatment involves, what it can achieve, and what it cannot. This page is written to give you exactly that.
Medical Center Klinik's oncology programme provides access to a JCI-accredited oncology centre with a dedicated tumour board, PET-CT and MRI imaging capability, linear accelerator radiotherapy, medical oncology, surgical oncology, and palliative care services under one roof.
The programme covers diagnosis and staging workup, second opinion consultations for patients with existing diagnoses, chemotherapy and targeted therapy administration, radiotherapy (3D conformal, IMRT, IGRT, and stereotactic body radiotherapy), surgical oncology for appropriate solid tumour cases, immunotherapy and biological therapy, and survivorship and follow-up care.
Every new patient is presented at a multidisciplinary tumour board — attended by a medical oncologist, radiation oncologist, surgical oncologist, radiologist, and pathologist — before a treatment plan is finalised. This ensures that recommendations reflect the current evidence base and the full range of available treatment modalities, rather than the perspective of a single specialty. For appropriate cases, high-precision stereotactic radiosurgery is available, delivering targeted radiation to tumours in a small number of sessions while sparing surrounding healthy tissue.
Who This Treatment Is — and Is Not — For
Our medical team will give you an honest assessment during your free consultation. We do not recommend treatment that is not clinically appropriate — ever. Here is the general candidacy picture for this procedure.
Our partner oncology centre accepts patients at all stages of cancer diagnosis and treatment. Patients presenting for an initial diagnosis workup, those seeking a second opinion on an existing treatment plan, and those pursuing treatment after assessment elsewhere are all welcome.
International patients are encouraged to share all existing pathology, imaging, and treatment documentation in advance of their appointment so that the multidisciplinary team can conduct a preliminary review and ensure the most efficient and productive use of the patient's time in Istanbul.
What Happens, and When
From your first message to your final follow-up, every step is managed by your dedicated coordinator. You will never be passed between departments, left without an answer, or surprised by something you were not told to expect. Here is exactly what the process looks like.
Initial consultation
existing pathology reports, imaging, and treatment records reviewed; additional diagnostic workup ordered as needed
Multidisciplinary tumour board presentation
all new cases reviewed by the full oncology team before a treatment recommendation is made
Treatment plan presented to the patient with full explanation of objectives, expected response, duration, and side effect profile
Staging and baseline imaging
PET-CT, MRI, or CT performed to establish baseline and confirm staging accuracy
Treatment initiation
chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, or radiotherapy delivered according to protocol
Response assessment imaging at defined intervals
typically after 2–3 cycles of systemic therapy or at the midpoint of radiotherapy
Treatment plan review and modification based on response
tumour board re-presentation where significant changes are indicated
End-of-treatment assessment and survivorship plan
including surveillance imaging schedule and long-term follow-up protocol
What to Expect After Treatment
Recovery is not something that happens to you — it is something you and your medical team manage together. Our aftercare programme continues long after you leave Istanbul, with scheduled follow-up consultations, direct access to your clinical team, and full documentation for your GP at home.
Recovery and functional status during and after cancer treatment varies significantly based on tumour type, stage, treatment modality, and the individual patient's baseline health. The partner facility's oncology nursing team and palliative care specialists actively manage treatment-related symptoms throughout the patient's programme, and our patient coordinators manage all logistical aspects of the stay to minimise additional stress.
Everything in Your Package — No Hidden Costs
Every item below is confirmed in writing before you commit. There are no surprise charges, no optional extras added at the last moment, and no administrative fees. The price we quote is the price you pay.
How Much Does This Cost?
We provide a personalised cost breakdown after your free consultation — once we have reviewed your specific case, medical history, and treatment goals. There is no commitment required to receive a quote, and no pressure to proceed.
International patients typically pay significantly less than equivalent treatment in the UK, Germany, or the United States — with no compromise on clinical quality, materials, or aftercare standards.

These are the questions our international patient team answers every day. If yours is not listed here, reach out directly — we respond within 24 hours, without obligation.
Can I get a second opinion on my diagnosis or treatment plan?
Yes. Second opinion consultations are a formal service at our oncology centre. Patients submit existing pathology reports, imaging, and treatment documentation in advance. A tumour board review is conducted, and a formal written second opinion report is issued — typically within 5–7 working days. This service is available remotely or in person.
Are the chemotherapy drugs the same as in Europe?
Yes. All chemotherapy agents, targeted therapies, and immunotherapy drugs used at our oncology centre are sourced from licenced pharmaceutical manufacturers and are the same agents specified by ESMO (European Society for Medical Oncology) guidelines. Generic substitution is discussed transparently with patients where applicable.
How do you coordinate with my oncologist at home?
We actively encourage communication with the patient's home oncologist. A comprehensive treatment summary is provided at each stage of therapy, formatted for submission to a referring physician. Video consultation between our oncologists and the patient's home team can be arranged on request.
What support is available during treatment for international patients?
Every oncology patient is assigned a dedicated patient coordinator who manages accommodation, transport, appointment scheduling, translation, and communication throughout their programme. Our social work and psychological support services are available to patients and their companions throughout treatment.
