What You Need to Know Before You Decide
Every patient who contacts us has done their research. What they are looking for — beyond the clinical facts — is someone they can trust to be honest about what this treatment involves, what it can achieve, and what it cannot. This page is written to give you exactly that.
Medical Center Klinik's plastic surgery programme is delivered by board-certified surgeons holding dual memberships with ISAPS (International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery) and the Turkish Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery. All procedures are performed in JCI-accredited surgical facilities equipped with modern anaesthesia infrastructure, ICU backup, internationally trained nursing staff, and — for complex cases — a hybrid operating theatre with intraoperative imaging capability.
Our surgical specialties include rhinoplasty (open and closed technique, including revision rhinoplasty), blepharoplasty (upper and lower eyelid surgery), facelift and neck lift, otoplasty (ear correction), brow lift, fat transfer procedures, breast augmentation, breast reduction and mastopexy, abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), and liposuction.
Every surgical candidate undergoes a comprehensive pre-operative assessment including blood panel, ECG, and anaesthesia evaluation. 3D surgical imaging is used for facial procedures to allow the patient and surgeon to review projected outcomes in detail before consent is signed. Our surgical coordinators remain on-call throughout the patient's stay and manage all non-clinical logistics — accommodation, transfer, pharmacy, and communication — so the patient and their companion can focus entirely on recovery.
Who This Treatment Is — and Is Not — For
Our medical team will give you an honest assessment during your free consultation. We do not recommend treatment that is not clinically appropriate — ever. Here is the general candidacy picture for this procedure.
Plastic surgery candidates should be adults in good general health with stable weight and realistic expectations of surgical outcomes. Specific suitability criteria vary by procedure: rhinoplasty candidates should have completed facial bone development (typically 18+); breast surgery candidates should be 18+ for augmentation and any age for reduction where clinically indicated; body contouring candidates should be within 20–25% of their ideal body weight.
Active smoking significantly increases surgical risk and is contraindicated within 4 weeks of any procedure. Patients with uncontrolled hypertension, diabetes, or cardiac conditions will require specialist medical clearance before surgery proceeds. A full pre-operative assessment is mandatory for all surgical patients.
What Happens, and When
From your first message to your final follow-up, every step is managed by your dedicated coordinator. You will never be passed between departments, left without an answer, or surprised by something you were not told to expect. Here is exactly what the process looks like.
Pre-operative medical assessment
blood panel, ECG, and anaesthesia evaluation completed on arrival; any concerns are addressed before the procedure is confirmed
3D imaging and surgical planning session with your surgeon
projected outcomes reviewed and approved; surgical consent forms signed
Pre-operative preparation
fasting instructions, medication adjustments, and preparation protocol provided in writing
Surgery performed under general or sedation anaesthesia depending on procedure; duration typically 1–4 hours
Recovery room monitoring
vital signs observed by nursing staff until the patient is fully alert and comfortable
Inpatient admission as required
most facial procedures require 1 night; body contouring procedures typically 2–3 nights
Post-operative review by surgeon before discharge
wound check, drain removal if applicable, and written aftercare instructions issued
Discharge with post-operative medication, compression garments where applicable, and follow-up video consultation scheduled
What to Expect After Treatment
Recovery is not something that happens to you — it is something you and your medical team manage together. Our aftercare programme continues long after you leave Istanbul, with scheduled follow-up consultations, direct access to your clinical team, and full documentation for your GP at home.
Recovery timelines vary significantly by procedure. For facial surgeries including rhinoplasty and blepharoplasty, swelling and bruising is most prominent in the first 5–7 days. The majority of visible bruising resolves by day 10–14. Most patients feel comfortable returning to work (in a non-physical role) within 10–14 days of facial surgery.
For body contouring procedures including abdominoplasty, patients should plan for 2–4 weeks of restricted activity. Heavy lifting and strenuous exercise are contraindicated for 6 weeks. Final surgical results — after all swelling has resolved — are assessed at 6 months for facial procedures and 12 months for body surgery. Our follow-up programme includes video consultations at 1 week, 6 weeks, 3 months, and 6 months post-procedure.
Everything in Your Package — No Hidden Costs
Every item below is confirmed in writing before you commit. There are no surprise charges, no optional extras added at the last moment, and no administrative fees. The price we quote is the price you pay.
How Much Does This Cost?
We provide a personalised cost breakdown after your free consultation — once we have reviewed your specific case, medical history, and treatment goals. There is no commitment required to receive a quote, and no pressure to proceed.
International patients typically pay significantly less than equivalent treatment in the UK, Germany, or the United States — with no compromise on clinical quality, materials, or aftercare standards.

These are the questions our international patient team answers every day. If yours is not listed here, reach out directly — we respond within 24 hours, without obligation.
How do I know my surgeon is qualified?
All surgeons in our plastic surgery programme hold board certification from ISAPS or the Turkish Society of Plastic Surgery — the recognised international and national standards. We provide full CV documentation, fellowship credentials, and procedural case volume on request prior to your appointment.
What anaesthesia will be used?
Most procedures are performed under general anaesthesia administered by a board-certified anaesthesiologist. Certain minor procedures may be performed under sedation with local anaesthetic. The anaesthesia plan is discussed and confirmed at your pre-operative assessment.
Can I bring a companion?
Yes, and for surgical procedures we strongly recommend it. Companion accommodation in a nearby hotel is included in surgical packages. Your companion is welcome at all non-clinical appointments and kept informed throughout your stay with your consent.
What if I am not happy with my result?
Our partner surgeons discuss outcomes candidly and set realistic expectations during the pre-operative planning session. In the event that a result falls short of what was agreed — assessed at the appropriate time point for each procedure — revision options are discussed without commercial pressure. Revision surgery is priced transparently.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend initiating your consultation at least 6–8 weeks before your intended travel date. This allows time for medical assessment, pre-operative preparation, and travel planning. Priority scheduling is available for patients with fixed travel windows.
Ready to Take the First Step?
Your free consultation is a conversation — not a commitment. Tell us about your situation, and our medical team will give you an honest assessment of whether this treatment is right for you, what to expect, and what it will cost. We respond within 24 hours — 7 days a week.
